DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides our students with specially designed instruction developed to meet the unique needs of each child resulting from his/her disability such as: a resource room, inclusion, and/or pullout services.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students, ensuring tailored instruction and support to meet specific learning goals.
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths and challenges, and use data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
Instructional Planning: Create and adapt lesson plans to meet the unique needs of students, incorporating various teaching methods and resources.
Classroom Management: Establish a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement, safety, and respect.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive educational experience and facilitate accommodations.
Parent Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process.
Behavioral Support: Implement and monitor behavioral interventions and strategies to support students’ social and emotional development.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices and legal requirements in special education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid Special Education Teaching License in Michigan
- At least 1 year of experience as Special Education Teacher
